Inevitably we come across books or products that we really enjoy and will share a few of those items on this page.
Kwik Goal makes the best soccer equipment on the market. Soccer Tennis is such a great way to develop touch and is just fun. When we know our Centre Soccer players have had a tough week with mid-terms, we just pull out the Soccer Tennis nets and the players naturally go to them and play at the start of practice and before you know it, their mood has completely changed, and they have a better training session that day. Soccer Tennis is also a great back yard game that encourages socialization, develops touch, in a fun game. Our Centre Soccer players even have one in our locker room!
Players should not have to play or train on their own, they should want too! The ultimate level a player achieves will be related to how much they love soccer. A player doing something because they are afraid of being cut or losing playing time will always be beaten out by the player who is just doing it because they love it. That is the difference between an inspired player and a motivated player. Knowing the distinction between the two is the crux of player development. If you have an inspired player, this kit makes training fun and is very helpful.
This was the most transformative book I read as a young coach. There are a few diagrams that are lost in translation so it helps to read the book first, make notes in the margins, and then read back through it a second time. This book focuses on modern tactics and explains zonal defending as well as any book I know.
One of my closest friends, a physician in Louisville, recommended this product to me. I honestly thought it was a bit crazy but he explained that many on the PGA tour wear Q-Links and they are very popular with surgeons. So I said why not? I have been wearing a Q-Link for the last several years and am very happy with the results. My assistant coaches sometimes joke I need to take it off during games because I am too calm!
